Haemorrhoids, Anal Tears & Fissures Treatments

Haemorrhoids are not usually very serious and can be successfully treated with over-the-counter medicines and a high-fibre diet. There are a number of treatments available which can help reduce the swelling, itching and discomfort associated with haemorrhoids. Lifestyle, fluid and dietary changes are usually recommended as a first step, especially if your haemorrhoids are as a result of constipation. Your GP may also prescribe a laxative to help with constipation.

Please use the Conservative Treatment drop down menu below to see a list of different treatments available. Surgery will generally only be considered in the most severe cases, and usually after other treatments have been tried without success.
