Welcome to our newly developed e-learning section.

We currently have two e-learning modules available,which have been produced by the Virtual College.

These modules are online self-paced courses so you decide how fast or slow the training goes. You can complete each course in stages, revisiting the training at any time, even after you have completed the course.

The material for each course has been broken down into several smaller lessons, each lesson dealing with a specific area of the overall subject. The lessons consists of a series of pages in which an instructor will talk you through the lesson material at a pace that suits you. Pages may also include supporting pictures, graphs, animation or extra sounds to help with the learning where appropriate. Some lessons will include challenges/quizzes to help you keep in touch and interested in the material.

Lessons can be taken in any order and each lesson may be PAUSED and RESUMED at any stage.

Below you will find information about these modules and the direct links to the external test centre site where you can purchase the training. Module 1- The Management of Urinary Catheterisation for Adults - Cost £30+ vat

Urinary catheterisation is an intervention performed by health care workers to enable emptying of the bladder, or instillation of a solution / medication, by insertion of a catheter. Although it is a common procedure, it carries many risks and is a significant cause of healthcare acquired infections.

Having completed this e-learning course, learners will understand what the Management of Urinary Catheterisation for Adults involves and they should also be able to apply the principles learnt in this course into practice.

Module 2 - The Assessment and Management of Urinary Incontinence and Bladder Dysfunction in Adults - Cost £30 + vat

Urinary incontinence and bladder dysfunction is common among people of all ages, affecting about one in eight men and one in four women. This equates to approximately three to six million people in the UK. It can have numerous social and physical impacts which can be very damaging to sufferers, and is often viewed as a 'hidden' issue due to the embarrassment it can cause.

However, healthcare workers can make a huge difference to people's lives, often simply by increasing patient awareness and discussing ways in which they can take control of their lives again.

As a result, this module aims to increase awareness of the main issues around bladder incontinence and provide the learner with the information needed to undertake a holistic assessment of individuals with urinary incontinence and bladder dysfunction, and initiate appropriate treatment.
