Other surgeries

It is possible to construct a new sphincter if people have a very damaged sphincter, where other surgeries have failed and for those who are born with little or no anus. This surgery is only available to people who have severe faecal incontinence and whose quality of life is very low because of their incontinence.

An artificial bowel sphincter which is made of medical silicone would be implanted. This surgery is only available in certain specialized circumstances.
